An Ozark man was killed when a civilian helicopter he was piloting crashed in a residential area in Ozark Saturday, May 30.
Brian J. Little, 45, was killed in the crash that occurred at about 11:35 a.m. in the area of Buena Vista Drive, off of Deese Road, in Ozark.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim in this accident,” said Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker.
Walker said that the Ozark-Dale County E911 Center received multiple calls reporting the crash at about 11:35 a.m. “Once on scene police and fire personnel located the crash site of the helicopter and the pilot, who was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Walker said. “One caller advised that the helicopter appeared to be in distress prior to the crash.”
Walker said that although the helicopter crash site was in a residential area no other people were injured during the crash.
Walker said that the helicopter apparently hit a tree but that none of the residences or any of the power lines were damaged in the crash.
Walker said that the crash is being investigated by Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board authorities with assistance from the Ozark Police Department and the Dale County Sheriff’s Office.
