The Alabama softball game against Portland State to wrap up the Pacific Northwest road trip on Wednesday night was halted after two innings of play because of safety concerns.

The Crimson Tide, which is 22-0, was leading 6-3 after two innings. But the game had multiple errors, five in all, and after a bat flew out of the hands of a PSU batter in the bottom of the second because of the wet conditions, the coaches decided it was in the best interest to cancel the game. There was a steady downpour the entire time.

The game was being played at Hood View Park Sports Complex in Happy Valley because PSU's home field, Erv Lind Stadium, was unplayable because of the rain.

Alabama will now return to Tuscaloosa to host Mississippi in a three-game Southeastern Conference series. The two teams will start the three-game set on Friday, March 16 at Rhoads Stadium.
