Enterprise's playoff hopes may not hinge completely upon the outcome of its football game against Central-Phenix City Thursday night, but the Cats need a big crowd nonetheless.
School officials are encouraging the community to fill the Wildcat Stadium bleachers as Enterprise enjoys its Senior Night and plays for the postseason.
The Wildcats, who started 2-4 overall, have turned their season around in the last two weeks with Class 7A, Region 2 victories against Prattville and Smiths Station.
"Our team has battled all year long and fought its way into playoff contention," EHS principal Matt Rodgers said. "I am extremely proud of (EHS football) Coach (David) Faulkner, our players and coaching staff. I am also proud of the Big Blue Band, and the tremendous job our cheerleaders have done this year. (EHS band director) Mr. (Sean) Weiler, (EHS cheer) Coach (Amber) Leslie and their staffs — along with these student-athletes — have made Friday nights special this year."
Another reason Thursday's game will be special is the presence of the Raycom Media Game of the Week crew, which will televise the region game to a statewide audience. It will be on the local FOX network, but Rodgers hopes every football fan in the community will be in the bleachers.
"We appreciate the tremendous support EHS receives from the Enterprise community," he said. "I encourage all Wildcat fans to show up on Thursday night and be the '12th Cat.' Let's make Thursday night in Wildcat Stadium one to remember. Let's show the state of Alabama how much pride we have in Enterprise, Alabama."
The game between Central (7-2) and the Wildcats (4-4) will kick off at 7 p.m., Thursday.
