Enterprise Rescue had to use the jaws-of-life last week following a two-vehicle accident on Plaza Drive.

Wendy Tidwell Hanson and Lauren McLendon, both of Enterprise, were injured after being struck on the driver’s side door by a semi-truck near the 500 block of Plaza Drive at about 3:12 p.m. June 28.

According to Sgt. Steve Russell, public information officer with the Enterprise Police Department, Hanson, the driver of the 2007 Saturn Ion was attempting to turn left onto Plaza Drive from Wallace Drive and pulled out in front of an on-coming semi-truck that was traveling southbound on Plaza Drive.

A Flatiron medevac helicopter from Fort Rucker arrived on the scene and transported the injured driver and passenger to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan for treatment. Hanson is listed in critical condition. McLendon has been released. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
