A traffic stop in Daleville led to the arrest of two men on drug related charges June 2.

According to Daleville Department of Public Safety Investigator Sgt. Jason Grantham, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Daleville public safety officers pulled over Timothy Garfield Mims Jr., 28, of Slocomb, and Shawn Christian Watson, 26, of Elba in the parking lot of the Inland gas station at the intersection of Highway 84 and Highway 85.

While performing the traffic stop, Grantham said the suspects appeared to be nervous and were moving something inside the interior of the vehicle.

Officers were given consent by the driver to search the vehicle.

While conducting the search, officers said they found a several small plastic containers that appeared to contain methamphetamine, as well several drug paraphernalia items.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Dale County Jail. Mims and Watson were both charged with possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mims, who was out on parole, was booked into the Dale County jail with no bond. Watson was booked into the jail under a $7,500 bond.
