New details emerge from Saturday shooting in Mississippi

Locally, Walding is wanted for violating the conditions of a $150,000 bond issued after her Nov. 1, 2011, arrest. Walding was ordered not to leave the state when she was released from the Coffee County Jail on Nov. 15, 2011. Her Saturday arrest in Mississippi was flagged by local authorities who, in turn, filed a warrant for her arrest.

Marsh, of Brundidge, died on his 31st birthday, shortly after he was shot by a police officer in the area of a Travel Express Inn located on U.S. Highway 90.

At the time of Marsh’s death, Coffee County officials had been trying to locate Marsh since March 13. Court records show Marsh failed to meet conditions of a bond in connection with the same Nov. 1, 2011, incident when Walding was arrested.

Marsh was released from jail on Dec. 2, 2011, but was re-arrested Jan. 22 for failure to appear. District Judge Paul Sherling allowed Marsh to post bond on Jan. 27 for the re-arrest under the condition Marsh wear a GPS ankle monitor.

A warrant was issued for Marsh after court officials discovered Marsh allowed the batteries to go dead and failed to pay fees associated with the ankle monitor.

Marsh's bond had been secured by David Tyler, of Ace Bonding Company in Enterprise. Tyler said Marsh had cut off the ankle monitor so he and friend went to Marsh's grandmother's house in Brundidge to pick Marsh up.

"He (Marsh) ran in the house grabbed the keys to his grandmother's car, jumped in and about ran me and a friend over," Tyler said, adding Ace will no longer be liable for Marsh's bond.

Marsh had been a fugitive of justice since that time.

According to Agent Warren Strain of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Marsh was shot after Waveland police received a call at about 3:30 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle in the area.

“When police got there a foot chase ensued, a weapon was displayed by the suspect and shots were fired,” Strain said.

Since a police officer was involved, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations was called in to investigate the shooting. According to the Sun Herald, the veteran police officer, whose name is being withheld, has been placed on paid leave at this time, which is standard procedure. MBI is releasing no details until its investigation is complete.
