Following a search warrant, manhunt and shootout with Henry County police, two people have been arrested for a combined 20 charges with more pending.
Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff's Department have made two arrests in connection to the recent seizure of a methamphetamine lab and thousands of dollars worth of stolen property.
Police arrested Yvette Dawn Melvin, 45, of 107 Medley Road in New Brockton, and charged her with six counts of second-degree receiving stolen property, one count of first-degree receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine, first-degree manufacturing, trafficking and chemical endangerment of a child.
Police also arrested William Pervie Walker, 39, of 107 Medley Road in New Brockton, and charged him with six counts of second-degree receiving stolen property, one count of first-degree receiving stolen property, trafficking and first-degree manufacturing.
The July 19 search of the property on Medley Road uncovered a "one-pot" methamphetamine lab, several thousands of dollars in firearms, tires, rims, electronics, tools, all-terrain vehicles and lawn equipment.
Deputies also recovered cocaine, methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia and surveillance equipment.
The seizure solved a number of burglary cases within the county as deputies seized more than $35,000 worth of property.
No one was home at the time of the search.
The chemical endangerment charge stems from a 14-year-old child left at the New Brockton residence when deputies arrived to complete the search.
The arrests came after police received a report that a city of Ozark truck and trailer holding a four-wheeler and John Deere Gator had been stolen in the early morning hours July 24.
Wednesday morning, at about 2 a.m., Henry County deputies received a report of a man driving a four-wheeler down the roadway.
Deputies arrived at the scene on County Road 48 and found Melvin inside the stolen Ozark truck.
When they approached the vehicle, according to Coffee County Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth, Melvin pulled a weapon on the officer, resulting in shots being fired.
Melvin was shot twice in the shoulder and was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was treated and released to the custody of police the following day and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
The man on the four-wheeler, identified as Walker, fled the scene. He was later found in a ditch at about 8 p.m., taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
Both suspects remain in the Coffee County Jail under no bond.
Whitworth said other charges are pending in Coffee County, Dale County, Henry County, Houston County, Dothan Police Department and possibly Pike County.
