Dale County teen fatally injured in crash

A single-vehicle crash fatally injured a Dale County teenager Saturday morning.

Anna Kaitlin (Katie) Tidwell, 16, of Midland City died when her red 1998 Volkswagen Beetle she was driving, left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree at aboaut 11:20 a.m. According to reports, she is a 11th grader at Dale County High School.

The crash occurred on Dale County Road 14, about two miles north of Midland City.

Tidwell was taken to Flowers hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

State Troopers continue to investigate.

Katie was my best friend. She was in eleventh grade. We grew up together, and words cannot describe how much I miss her. At this point, I can't even believe this is true. I love you, Katie.
