With the State of Florida pushing back the start date for the 2020 football season, that decision eliminated the Enterprise Wildcats’ season-opener against Miami Somerset Academy scheduled for Aug. 21.
Enterprise head coach Rick Darlington confirmed to The Sun on Aug. 4 that the Wildcats will now play the Early County Bobcats – hailing from Blakely, Ga. – at home on Sept. 25. That date had previously been Enterprise’s open week for the season.
Enterprise will not play a game on Aug. 21 and instead will open the season at home against Carver-Montgomery on Aug. 28.
Enterprise is also currently scheduled to play Navarre (Fla.) on the road on Oct. 30 to close out the regular season, and Darlington said that game is currently still scheduled.
The Florida High School Athletic Association will announce its decision on the football season next week and Darlington said if it’s allowed then the game will go on as scheduled and if not, Enterprise will just simply have one less game this year.
This will be the first matchup between Enterprise and Early County ever. Early County went 5-6 last season and lost to Dublin High School in the first round of the playoffs.
