A Daleville woman is dead after a Friday night house fire in Daleville.

Linda Moody, 64, was killed in the house fire, Dale County Cororner Woody Hilboldt confirmed Monday, May 18.

Moody was in a duplex apartment located in the 600 block of Troy Edmondson Road in Daleville where the fire apparently began between 4 and 5 p.m. May 15.

Daleville Department of Public Safety Director Chief Allen Medley said Sunday, May 17, that the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Alabama Fire Marshall. A white cross decked with blue ribbons and flowers and inscribed with the words “Big Momma” has been placed in the front yard which is cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Medley thanks the fire departments from Level Plains and Clayhatchee for their mutual aid assistance in containing the fire.
