LP City Council approves command center

The Level Plains City Council approved the purchase of a smart TV and cable and the installation in the mayor’s office for use as a command center at its regularly scheduled Dec. 3 meeting.

Mayor Bruce Grantham then provided a couple of updates to the council. First, he let the council know that the city had received the Community Development Block Grant.

This grant awarded $250,000 to the city for street and drainage improvements along Faith Street and Phyllis Avenue.

He also told the council that the new windows have been installed at the Community Building.

“They look good,” Grantham said.

Level Plains Water Supervisor Stanley Gatlin updated the council on the progress of the emergency generator for City Hall, which was approved at the Nov. 5 meeting.

“The generator, we lacked just the gas line being run to it,” Stanley said. “They got the meter set and the switchbox was put in today. We’re just waiting for the gas line to be run.”

The next Level Plains City Council meeting will be Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. at Level Plains City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
