The 2020 Celebration activities will be held at Johns Chapel AME Church, 605 Geneva Highway, Enterprise.

The Youth Celebration will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m.

The Main Celebration will be held Sunday, Jan. 19, at 5 p.m. It will feature the preaching of Rev. Elijah Shafah, pastor of Greater St. Paul AME Church in Troy. Rev. Shafah, a native of Southwest Atlanta, Ga., began preaching at the age of 15, was ordained at the age of 18, and has pastored three churches prior to his present appointment.

Rev. Shafah is a graduate of Georgia State University with a concentration in psychology and English. He attended the Interdenominational Theological Center where he received the Master of Divinity degree from Turner Theological Seminary in 2007. Pastor Shafah is a dynamic preacher and has traveled across this country as a revivalist. Presently, he serves as the Chair of the Board of Examiners and is a member of the Finance Committee for the Southeast Alabama Conference of the 9th Episcopal District of the AME Church.

Under Pastor Shafah’s leadership, Greater St. Paul AME Church has experienced growth in its membership, created a corporation and purchased property surrounding the church. The church is debt free and in the process of building an apartment complex. Pastor Shafah’s belief is that nothing is impossible or off limits with God.

The Youth Celebration will feature 13 students from local churches who will present essays on their interpretation of the theme: “Embrace the Dream, Create the Change.” The program will also include special music from the Daleville Christian Fellowship Worship Center Youth Choir.
