Daleville High School senior running back Jalen White has been named as the grand marshal for the Daleville Christmas parade. White brought recognition to Daleville High School this season for his accomplishments on the football field. He will be joined by Coach Desmond Lett and the entire football team will follow.

Daleville High School Principal Josh Robertson expressed his thoughts about White being named grand marshal.

“It is a great honor for a deserving young man. We are proud of all that Jalen has accomplished this year,” Robertson said.

Daleville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps is proud of White’s accomplishments on the football field and his academic accomplishments.

“Jalen has worked very hard and excelled this year, both athletically and academically. He is an inspiration to other students and really to all of us,” Stamps said. “I am proud that he has such a bright future because of his dedication to excellence. This —hard work, dedication and excellence—is the message we want everyone to hear about Daleville City Schools.”

The annual Christmas parade hosted by the Daleville Chamber of Commerce is set for Friday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. The theme this year is Merry Christmas.

Parade entrants will line up at Windham Elementary School between 4 and 5 p.m.

The Daleville City Queens, Mayor Jayme Stayton and City Council, the Pride of the South Marching Band, Daleville JROTC, Drill team, and Daleville FFA are just a few of the many entrants.

The parade will finish on Warhawk Drive at Daleville High School with a tree lighting ceremony.

The Daleville Chamber of Commerce wants to remind everyone that no candy can be thrown from any vehicle or float but candy can be handed out by participants walking in the parade.

The Grinch will be riding in the city street department’s bucket truck and there will be many elves throughout handing out candy and goodies.

Santa Claus will be at the tree lighting to meet with the children. Daleville Baptist Church will be passing out hot chocolate and the Daleville Chamber of Commerce will be handing out candy canes. Afterwards the Daleville Chamber invites everyone to stay for Christmas carols.
