Wildcats fall to Central-Phenix City

Central-Phenix City defeated Enterprise, 40-25 Friday night.

The Red Devils scored two early touchdowns to go up 14-0, but Enterprise answered with Jalen Hooks’ 1-yard touchdown run to make it 14-7 after one quarter.

After a Phenix City score Enterprise responded with a 13-play drive that ended with Willie Curry’s 3-yard touchdown run, making the score 20-13.

Phenix City scored its fourth touchdown in four possessions to take a 27-13 lead. Enterprise’s John Evans kicked a 29-yard field goal to narrow the margin to 27-16 at halftime.

Evans kicked a 28-yard field goal on the opening drive of the third quarter to cut Phenix City’s lead to 27-19, but the Red Devils answered with another touchdown.

After the teams exchanged scoreless possessions Phenix City added another touchdown to increase its lead to 40-19.

Enterprise quickly answered with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Rhett Harrelson to Ajee Warren to make it 40-25.

Phenix City came back with a 15-play drive that milked the final eight minutes off the clock.

Enterprise drops to 2-2 with the loss and 1-2 in Class 6A, Region 3 play. The Wildcats host Jeff Davis next Friday for homecoming. Phenix City improves to 3-1 and 2-1 in region play. The Red Devils travel to Russell County next week.
