The Enterprise High School wrestling team had another busy week last week with a match against Charles Henderson in Troy on Dec. 10 and an appearance in Auburn’s Swede Umbach Invitational on Dec. 13-14.

Enterprise cruised to a 60-18 win over Charles Henderson first as 285-pounder Dakotah Barber kicked things off with a pinfall victory over Charles Henderson’s Sam Knox and then 106-pound Layton Smith earned a pin over Charles Henderson’s Brayden Nowling.

In the 113-pound division Cody Kirk of Enterprise pinned Charles Henderson’s Hayden Adamson and 126-pounder Samuel Lynon pinned Charles Henderson’s Tyler Cooper.

Enterprise’s Terrance Brown also earned a pinfall over Charles Henderson’s Kacey Morgan in a matchup in the 138-pound division, while Xavier Torress s defeated Charles Henderson’s Ramsay Tipp by pinfall at 160 pounds.

Nathan Schmidt defeated Charles Henderson’s Todrick Burks in the 170-pound division, as well.

Finally, Colby Clark earned a pinfall win in a 220-pound match over Charles Henderson’s Baily Nixon.

Enterprise’s David Best (120 pounds) and Brenden Clark (132 pounds) also earned forfeit wins.

Charles Henderson’s John Halter won a 145-pound match with Enterprise’s Austin Butler and Dorian Shipman gave Charles Henderson its other win via forfeit at 182 pounds. Both teams suffered a double forfeit in the 195-pound weight class.

Enterprise also earned two victories during exhibition matches – that did not count towards the official score – when Clark and Samuel Mason defeated Charles Henderson’s Nick Slobodchikoff and Nick Simmons. KeShawn Carter of Enterprise also fell in an exhibition match to Charles Henderson’s Damian Hart.

Enterprise closed out the week with a number of Wildcats competing in the Swede Umach Invitational in Auburn.

Enterprise was led by Zach McFarland in the 113-pound division and Clark in the 195-pound weight class. McFarland went 4-2 at the tournament and earned a fifth place overall finish in his class, while Clark went 4-3 and earned a sixth place finish in his class.

McFarland defeated Enterprise teammate Ashley Mayse in the first round and Bob Jones wrestler Peyton King in the next round. Gardendale’s Isiah Powe – who would go on to win the 113-pound championship – defeated McFarland in the third round. McFarland then fell to Spain Park’s John Robert Thompson in the consolation bracket 14-4.

McFarland then picked up a 7-2 win over Columbus’ Sean Mulvany and 15-5 over Smiths Station’s Kyle Fontenot to earn the fifth place victory.

Clark picked up pins over Adrian Smith of Auburn and Prattville’s Avery Johnson in the first two rounds of the 195-pound division and then a forfeit win in the third round.

Clark fell 8-6 to Huntsville’s Hunter Wilson the fourth round and then 12-7 to Aiden Chilson of Lee County in the consolation bracket. Clark fell to Gardendale’s Jeremy Simpson in the fifth place match via pinfall.

At 195 pounds Tanner Bradley finished 5-3 for an 11th place finish, as well.

Kirk went 3-3 (106 pounds), Layton Smith went 2-5 (106 pounds), Adam Butler went 0-6 (145 pounds), Kenneth Leib finished 2-4 (152 pounds), Torress earned a 2-4 record (160 pounds), Joey Tarlavsky went 2-4 (220 pounds), Carson Phillips went 0-6 (220 pounds) and Carter went 1-3 (285 pounds).

Mayse, Lynon and Mason all had their days end prematurely after suffering injuries.

Enterprise will wrap up the 2019 portion of its schedule at a regional dual in Fairhope on Dec. 19.
