Alex Nelson and the Wildcats picked up a win over Providence-Christian.

The Enterprise High School tennis team hosted a home match at the newly christened L.H. Sessions Memorial Tennis Complex on Tuesday, Feb. 18, against Providence-Christian.

The Lady Cats fell 8-1 to the Lady Eagles, while the Wildcats picked up a 7-2 win.

For the Wildcats, Ayden Peterson picked up a 2-0 win in his two sets over Providence’s Jackson Tate. Alex Nelson, Evan Stewart and Bradley Pouncey also earned 2-0 sweeps.

Micah Smith fell 2-0 to Providence’s Mason Baker – losing the two sets 6-2 and 6-3 – while Cameron Emerson earned a 2-0 win for Enterprise. Judah Talley fell 1-0 in his match against Wright Ingram, while Connor Morriss earned a 1-0 win over Creed Capps winning the set 8-5.

In doubles action, Peterson and Pouncey picked up 2-0 wins along with Nelson and Stewart, while Emerson and Smith fell 2-0. Talley and Morriss also fell 1-0.

Katie Nelson was the only Lady Cat to earn a win in singles action as she defeated Providence’s Anna Parrish 2-0 winning both sets 6-3 and 7-5.

Tori Ammons, Grace Heim, Hais Kokoszka, Anna Warren and Emma Nolder each lost 2-0, while Abagail Upchurch lost 1-0.

The Lady Cats also went 0-3 in doubles action on the day.

Enterprise was scheduled to host Central-Phenix City for another match but weather postponed it. The rescheduled date for that match will be April 6.
