The Enterprise Lady Cats closed out the 2019 portion of their schedule with an appearance at Oak Mountain’s Lady Eagles Invitational Dec. 27-30.

The Lady Cats had a rough start to the tournament losing their first two matchups 58-32 to Homewood on Dec. 28 and 44-37 to Sacred Heart on Dec. 29.

Senior Lay Lay McClain led the Lady Cats with 14 points against Sacred Heart and 15 points against Homewood.

Despite the frustrating start Enterprise closed out the tournament strong with an exciting double overtime win over John Carroll 58-53 on Dec. 30.

After both sides ended regulation knotted up 43-43, neither team could pull away in the first overtime either, as the score remained tied 51-51.

In the second overtime, however, the Lady Cats were able to knock down 5-of-6 free throws as Enterprise outscored John Carroll in the period to pick up the 58-53 win.

Enterprise’s McClain led the way with 25 points, while Dashia Nelson added nine points and Harmony Baker chipped in with eight points.

Enterprise followed up with a 51-43 win over Carroll on the road Jan. 3.

McClain again led the way with 24 points, while Riley McCollough and Nicole Higgins scored 10 points each.

The Lady Cats opened up area play on Tuesday, Jan. 7, with a 37-29 loss on the road. 

Nelson and Baker led Enterprise with eight points each, while Higgins chipped in with six points. 

Enterprise hosts R.E. Lee in another area showdown on Friday, Jan. 10.
