The Troy football team is ushering in the Chip Lindsey Era at the school this season and with a new coach comes a new look as the Trojans will be playing on new turf.
Troy announced on June 26 that brand new turf will be installed at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The new turf – which is called Matrix Helix Realfill – is made of “life-like individual blades of grass, tufted into the strongest and most dimensionally stable backing system available.” The turf is also filled with pea gravel and cuboidal rubber to give it a bit of cushioning, as well.
The team manufacturing and installing the turf is an Austin, Texas based company called Hellas Construction, which is responsible for installing the turf for such NFL teams as the Los Angeles Rams and Oakland Raiders.
The new turf will also feature a new design with the Troy Power T logo at midfield along with cardinal red zones. The word “Troy” will be spelled out in the north end zone with “Trojans” in the south end zone.
