The Troy Trojans announced on June 17 that some size was coming to the team as junior college transfer Lydell Geffrard signed his letter-of-intent to play basketball for the Trojans.
Geffrard is a 6-foot-8-inch New York City, NY native that played for Three Rivers College in Missouri this past season.
Geffrard averaged 10 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 25 games as a sophomore at Three Rivers. Geffrard played center at Three Rivers but will play the “four” or power forward spot at Troy.
“We are super excited about adding ‘Big Dell’ to our Troy family,” Troy coach Scott Cross said of the signing. “Dell will add experience, size, strength, low post scoring and passing to our basketball team. He also possesses a great feel for the game. He is definitely an ‘Our Kinda’ Guy.’”
Geffrard said that Troy’s “family atmosphere” played a big part in his decision to come, along with Cross himself.
“I think Troy is the best fit for my style of play and I felt the family atmosphere while talking to Coach Cross,” Geffrard said in a statement to The Sun. “My first impression of Coach Cross was how much he cares about you as a person and how he could help me possibly make it to the next level. My goals for Troy are to make it to the NCAA Tournament get better every day.”
