EHS Softball

The Enterprise Lady Cats (8-5) headed to Birmingham on March 6-7 to compete in Spain Park’s Jaguar Softball Classic and went 2-2 in tournament action.

After starting off the tournament with a 7-1 loss to Tuscaloosa County in Hoover on March 6, the Lady Cats bounced back for a 6-4 win over Hueytown later in the day. On March 7, Enterprise picked up a 2-1 win over Oak Mountain at Spain Park High in Birmingham before falling to Sumiton Christian 3-1 later in the day.

Against Tuscaloosa County, Taylor Danford led the Lady Cats at the plate going 2-for-3, while Jordyn Thornton and Julianna McCollough had one hit each. Elizabeth Williams scored the lone EHS run.

Mattie Bowden pitched two and 1/3 innings with strikeouts, while giving up three hits and three runs. Amber Nall pitched one and 2/3 innings with one hit and four runs.

With Enterprise trailing Hueytown 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning, Katie Snell blasted a three-run home run that also drove Brittany Womack and Danford home to give EHS the 6-4 win.

Danielle Holley went 2-for-2 at the plate with one RBI, while Kyleigh Coin and Thornton both went 2-for-3 with one RBI each. Snell went 1-for-1 with three RBIs and one run.

Danford scored two runs and Womack scored one run.

Bowden pitched all four innings with four strikeouts along with four hits and four runs.

Enterprise and Oak Mountain were knotted up 0-0 in the top of the third inning when Danford drove Georgia Lessman home to take a 1-0 lead and then Womack scored a run on an error to give EHS the 2-0 lead. Oak Mountain managed one round in the bottom of the third but couldn’t draw any closer as the Lady Cats held on to the 2-1 win.

Danford and Snell each had one hit. Emily Holland pitched all five innings and struck out three batters, while giving up three hits and one run with 43-of-63 total pitches ending in a strike.

Emma Faul led EHS at the plate going 2-for-2 and Danford went 2-for-3 against Sumiton Christian.

Holland pitched all five innings and gave up six hits and three runs in the 3-1 loss.
