For the 28th consecutive year the Enterprise Lady Cats (32-14) end the regular season as area champions as they won the Class 7A, Area 3 Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and then competed in the South Super Regionals in Montgomery on Oct. 25-26.
As Area 3 Champions, the Lady Cats moved on to the Class 7A South Super Regionals in Montgomery.
In the quarterfinals of super regionals, Enterprise dominated Mary Montgomery 3-0 with wins in each three sets 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14.
Senior Morgan Harrelson led the Lady Cats three aces, five kills, 19 assists, 13 digs and two blocks. Ali Wiggins added nine kills and 14 assists. Senior Rhiannon Keck had six kills, nine digs and four blocks.
The Lady Cats also wore special jerseys against Mary Montgomery in remembrance of the daughter of EHS assistant coach Callie White who passed away in 2017. White’s daughter Addy Kate was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma and the gold letters on the Lady Cat jerseys were in honor of childhood cancer awareness. The grey jerseys themselves were in honor of DIPG awareness.
In the semifinals, Enterprise dispatched of Auburn 3-0 with wins 25-23, 25-17 and 25-19 in the three sets.
Ali Wiggins had a big day with seven kills, eight assists and seven digs. The seven kills lifted her over 1,000 career kills. Harrelson pitched in with three aces, six kills, 11 assists and seven digs. Mya Carter contributed seven kills and two blocks. Keck also had two aces and three digs.
In the South Super Regionals Championship Enterprise fell 3-0 to McGill-Toolen losing 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19.
Harrelson once again led the Lady Cats with one ace, eight kills, eight assists and four digs. Ali Wiggins had nine kills, four assists and four digs. Tatiana Bonilla had one ace, five assists and nine digs.
As runner-up, Enterprise will now move on to the Class 7A State Volleyball tournament on Oct. 30 in Birmingham.
Enterprise faces off against Hoover in the quarterfinals at 9:30 a.m. on today at the CrossPlex Court No. 1.
