Jordan Hines (20) and the Wildcats picked up a pair of area wins last week.

The Enterprise Wildcats (12-4, 2-0) opened up Class 7A, Area 3 competition last week with matchups against Jeff Davis and Dothan and came away with an undefeated area record.

Enterprise started the week off with a 68-56 win over the Jeff Davis Volunteers at home on Jan. 5. The Wildcats never trailed in the game as Enterprise got out to a 1-0 start in area play.

Enterprise jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter and took a 32-25 lead into halftime. Enterprise stretched its lead to 54-43 before pulling away for the 68-56 win in the fourth quarter. Enterprise outscored Jeff Davis in all four quarters and scored 14 points or more in each quarter.

Enterprise shot 56 percent from the field and held Jeff Davis to just 38 percent shooting, while outrebounding the Vols 39-34 and forcing 18 turnovers. Enterprise also turned the ball over 20 times but the Wildcats scored 17 points off the Volunteers’ turnovers and Jeff Davis scored just 15 points off Enterprise turnovers. The Wildcats also outscored the Vols 46-30 in the paint.

Junior Quentin Hayes had a big night with a double-double as he scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Hayes also grabbed three steals on defense. Senior Josh McCray added 11 points, five assists and three steals in the win.

Junior Elijah Terry chipped in with eight points and six rebounds, while sophomore Jordan Hines scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds. Freshman Keion Dunlap scored seven points and senior Jalen Cunningham scored six points, dished five assists and had three steals.

The Lady Vols had to forfeit giving the Lady Cats a 1-0 win, as well.

The Wildcats traveled to Dothan on Jan. 8 for another region matchup and picked up a 54-37 road win.

Enterprise lead 13-8 in the first quarter and took a 25-17 lead into halftime. The Wildcats extended their lead to 38-28 going into the fourth quarter and outscored Dothan 14-9 in the final period to earn the 54-37 win.

Enterprise shot 40 percent from the field and held Dothan to just 28 percent shooting. The Wildcats outrebounded the Wolves 33-30 and forced 18 turnovers. Enterprise scored 19 points off those 18 turnovers, as well.

Hayes led Enterprise’s scorers with 17 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double. Senior Josh McCray added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Cunningham scored four points, grabbed three rebounds and dished four assists.Terry scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds and earned two steals with two assists.

The Lady Cats stumbled against Dothan falling 47-35 on Jan. 8. Despite holding a 12-7 in the second quarter, the Lady Wolves went on a 16-2 run to take a 23-14 lead at halftime.

Dothan continued to build its lead in the second half, leading by as much as 24 at one point, before Enterprise cut the lead to 10 in the fourth quarter. That was as close as it would get as Dothan held on to the 54-37 win.

Shakayla Flower led the Lady Cats with nine points, while Dashia “NeNe” Nelson and Jalyn Williams scored eight points each.
