A self-described “garbage man from Battens Crossroads” is the new United States Representative for the Second Congressional District.
Barry Moore of Enterprise garnered some 64.5 percent of the votes cast in the Second Congressional District to 35.5 percent garnered by Phyllis Harvey-Hall, the Democrat Party candidate, according to the unofficial totals reported.
Moore is a former state representative and business owner in Coffee County who ran as a conservative and as the “first elected official in Alabama to publically endorse Donald Trump” for United States President.
Harvey-Hall is an educator from Montgomery who previously ran for the city council and school board in Montgomery.
Coffee and Dale County voters followed the district trend by electing Moore.
In Coffee County, with 29 of 30 precincts reported, Moore had 15,807 votes—80.36 percent—of the votes to Harvey-Hall’s 3,849—19.57 percent.
In Dale County, with 20 of 21 precincts reported, Moore had 14,339—73.70 percent—of the votes to Harvey-Hall’s 5,098—26.20 percent.
Elected to Congress in 2010, Roby did not seek reelection.
