Both Enterprise City Schools and Coffee County Schools reported a decrease in their COVID-19 positive results in the past week.
According to ECS Superintendent Greg Faught, his school system saw seven new positive cases amongst the student body and just one employee as of Feb. 9, which brings the total ECS number since the beginning of school to 186 students and 148 employees.
The eight new cases this week is a steep decline from the previous week’s 23 new cases.
According to Coffee County Superintendent Kevin Killingsworth, Coffee County Schools had 14 new cases in the previous week as of Feb. 4.
Zion Chapel School had four new student cases and three faculty cases, New Brockton Elementary had no new cases, New Brockton High School had three new student cases and Kinston School had three new student cases and one faculty case. That brings the total number of positive cases in the school system since the beginning of school to 173.
Killingsworth said that Coffee County Schools is working hard to get employees that wish to take the vaccine the opportunity to do so as soon as possible.
“We are still working with our partners in Coffee County to get a vaccination schedule for our employees who wish to take the vaccine,” Killingsworth said. “The plan has taken some twists and turns, but with the assistance from a local doctor, we hope to have a schedule in place within the next few days.”
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s School Dashboard, Daleville City Schools had seven new cases in the previous week as of Feb. 5. Also, Dale County Schools had 10 new cases, Dothan City Schools had eight new cases, Elba City Schools had less than five new cases and Ozark City Schools had 12 new cases.
