The G.W. Long 2019 Championship baseball and softball teams were honored at the Dale County Commission meeting July 23. Both teams from the high school in Skipperville earned state titles, becoming the first Alabama High School Athletic Association school to win state titles in both sports in consecutive seasons. G.W. Long’s baseball team captured their third consecutive state championship and their 16th in the past 30 years. The 2019 softball team now owns the National Federation of State High School Association’s national record for homeruns in a season. G.W.
