Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley announces that the state has awarded Enterprise with a $500,000 grant that will go toward providing sewer services to the future site of Alabama Aircraft Support.

In February, city councilmembers approved a resolution committing the matching funds, $219,940, to the project, which, with the help of the state grant, will provide the needed infrastructure for the future 64,800-square-foot aircraft maintenance building located on a 9-acre site at the Enterprise Municipal Airport.

The Community Development Block Grant grant is being provided through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs with funds made available by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“It’s a tribute to Alabama workers that our state is not only recognized for excellence in automobile manufacturing, but also has an equally good reputation in the aviation and aerospace industries,” Bentley said. “I am pleased to support this project and commend the dedicated community leaders, company officials and employees that have made this expansion possible.”
