One man now faces drug and weapons charges following a stop by the Coffee County Sheriff's Office for speeding.
According to Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth, CCSO deputies stopped Andrew Smiley, 27, of Troy, for speeding on Wednesday, March 21.
Whitworth said deputies could smell the strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed over a pound of marijuana, a handgun, cash, scales and other paraphernalia.
Smiley was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, certain persons forbidden to carry a firearm (violent person) and traffic warrants.
