Police were on the scene of a two-vehicle accident Tuesday night involving an 18-wheeler and a 1999 Geo Metro at the intersection of Highway 84 East and Dale County Road 109 in Level Plains.

The wreck occurred at about 7 p.m. when the car, driven by Anissa Dorn, 18, of Daleville, was traveling south and attempted to cross the highway. Her vehicle was struck on its side by the 18-wheeler.

The accident shut down eastbound traffic on Highway 84 for about an hour and a half while first responders were on the scene.

Dorn is reported to be in stable condition after being transported to Flowers Hospital. She received injuries to her shoulder and knee. The driver of the 18-wheeler has no injuries.

Assisting the Level Plains Police Department and Level Plains Fire and Rescue were the Daleville Police Department and Enterprise Rescue.

According to Level Plains Police Chief Lanice Bonds, a second accident occurred at about 7:45 at the same intersection on the westbound lanes of Highway 84 while first responders were still on the scene. No injuries were reported in the second accident.

I am one of Anissa's best friends. It is scary to think the day before this happend she was at my house acting a fool like she always does. Anissa has always said she is so hot she stops traffic. I went to visit her today and I told her she closed a portion of 84 down for almost 2 hours and she said " dang i must be hot". She is in alot of pain as you all could imagine but is doing very well considering what has happend. although she is doing fine..she will need all the prayers and support that she can get from her alma mater of daleville. we both recently graduated from the local high school and we were both members of the marching band. she is a beautiful and wonderful person that i thank god every minute that he has given me another chance to be her best friend.

    i love you anissa

    get well soon
