Two new designations for the Yancey Parker Industrial Park in Enterprise are expected to be a “dynamic catalyst for growth.”

That’s the assessment of Wiregrass Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Jonathon Tullos.

"Enterprise continues to prepare our community and its sites for economic development opportunities," Tullos said. "With these designations, we have demonstrated that we are readied and aggressively seeking new and expanding businesses and industries to our community."

Yancey Parker Industrial Park received a Troy Cablevision, Inc. Fiber Ready designation and Economic Development Partnership of Alabama's AdvantageSite designation, making it one of the first in the state of Alabama to earn both designations.

The designations are the result of collaborative efforts of the WEDC, the City of Enterprise and the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, Tullos said.

The Troy Cablevision, Inc. Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.

"Troy Cable is proud to be a part of the improvements seen at Yancey Parker Industrial Park,” said Troy Cable General Manager Jake Cowen. “In today's global marketplace, connectivity is vital to new employers and businesses of every type.

“When a business is considering a new location, company leadership considers transportation infrastructure, ease of access to utilities, the quality of the local workforce and the presence of fiber optics and high-speed communications infrastructure,” Cowen said. “Because of the increased importance of communications infrastructure, this Fiber Ready designation offers the opportunity to clearly show the presence of modern communications services and can be the tool necessary to aggressively recruit data centers and other employers to the Industrial Park and to the area."

Troy Cable currently offers economical pricing packages from 10 megs, to 1 gig, to 10 gigs of connectivity at Yancey Parker Industrial Park and recently completed installation of a 100 gig network transport, Tullos said. After testing and validation proved successful, Troy Cable ordered electronics necessary to install the first 100 gig circuit on their fiber optic network infrastructure. Installation is planned for the first quarter of 2016. Speeds of up to 100 gigs speeds will be available at Yancey Parker Industrial Park shortly thereafter.

“With the ever changing world of technology, the companies in our area are doing their part to stay ahead of the curve,” Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell said. “Having fiber connection points at our industrial complex makes us ready and able to serve potential businesses willing to locate in our city.”

To receive EDPA's AdvantageSite designation, the site must have undergone a vetting process to show important information about a site is readily available. A site awarded AdvantageSite designation has met standards related to ownership, accessibility, infrastructure, planning and zoning, and environmental and geotechnical due diligence.

As an AdvantageSite, Yancey Parker Industrial Park will be featured on EDPA's buildings and sites database used by site selection consultants, state economic developers, and companies looking to expand into Alabama.

Troy Cable joins CenturyLink as a fiber optic service provider for businesses looking to locate in the Yancey Parker Industrial Park.
