The new weapons law for the state of Alabama has no effect on the prohibition of carrying weapons on Fort Rucker.
Carrying weapons on Fort Rucker is prohibited.
Local concealed carry permits are not recognized on Fort Rucker, which is a federal installation.
Weapons can be transported on post only in a direct route to and from seasonal hunting/sporting events on Fort Rucker and must be properly registered with the Provost Marshal’s Office.
Weapons must be immediately removed from the installation after the hunting/sporting event, and no stops are permitted.
Weapons cannot be left in the vehicle while an employee is at work.
The carrying of a loaded firearm in a vehicle is prohibited.
Privately owned firearms carried in a vehicle must be transported separate from the ammunition and must be secured in the trunk.
For vehicles without a trunk, firearms will be encased in a container other than the glove compartment and carried in such a manner that they will not be readily available to the driver or passengers.
Any personnel who live on the installation who transport a privately owned firearm off the installation must comply with applicable federal, state and local laws pertaining to ownership, possession and registration.
“Fort Rucker continues to conduct vehicle checks on a regular basis and ensure the safety and security of our people,” Fort Rucker officials said in a release.

Weapons shouldn't be left anywhere where people without authorization can reach them. It is important for those who are usually using their guns to take safety measurements such as gun metallization and gun cases for a safe transport.
