Coffee County Registrars attend training

Richey said that she and Coffee County Board of Registrars members Robert Hooks and Linda Blake completed the training provided by Secretary of State John Merrill’s office.

“The extensive training for each county’s board of registrars is a much needed change from the way things have been done in the past,” said Richey.

“Breaking down the meetings into more manageable numbers each day enables better training and understanding for newer members and helps to see that each county is more aligned with one another on proper methods and procedures used in the offices,” Richey said. “This training is in addition to the twice yearly sessions done each year in conjunction with association meetings and the training done during major election years by the Alabama Law Institute with the Probate Judges and Circuit Clerks.”

Richey said Merrill’s office is implementing a number of changes that cut down on the redundant procedures and help insure that registrars are better equipped to have the most up to date information regarding voter’s records. “These changes will help to see that Alabama has the most accurate voter records possible,” she added.
