LP man loses second mobile home this month to fire

The Level Plains Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 11:51 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, to a single-wide mobile home on County Road 109 in Level Plains, according to Level Plains Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jamie Gatlin.

Gatlin said the mobile home was a total loss and that the occupant did not have access to a phone to call 911, which resulted in a delay of the fire being reported.

The occupant stated someone was trying to break into the trailer so the occupant shot a flare gun at them, which set the trailer on fire, according to Gatlin.

The LPVFP was not able to confirm or debunk the statement due to the mobile home being lost, Gatlin said.

Gatlin confirmed this is the second mobile home that has burned this month at this address with this occupant and both incidents had almost identical circumstances.
