A new voting place is in the works for Dale County citizens to vote on Fort Rucker.

Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blankenship told the commission at the meeting Jan. 22 that the Dale County Probate Judge had received notification informing her that the current voting place on Fort Rucker would need to be changed.

Blankenship said the new voting place suggested is the Bowden Terrace Community Center Building on Fort Rucker.

The commission approved a resolution approving the Bowden Terrace Community Center as an official voting place, contingent upon receiving written permission from authorities at Fort Rucker to use that building.

In unrelated business, the commission reappointed Richard Parker II to the Dale County Water Authority District 4 seat and Bibb Hughes Jr. as the DCWA At-Large Representative.

The commission also reappointed Gary Walker to the Personnel Appeals Board.

The next meeting of the Dale County Commission is Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. A work session is followed by a voting meeting. Both meetings are open to the public.
