The New Brockton Lady Gamecocks picked up a 3-0 win over Geneva County Monday afternoon after falling to the Zion Chapel Lady Rebels 3-2 last week.
The Lady Gamecocks battled it out with the Lady Rebels in a wild, hard fought matchup. New Brockton lost the first set 25-21 but rebounded for a pair of wins 26-24 and 25-20 in the next two sets. Zion Chapel managed to get the win after winning 25-21 and 16-14 in the final two sets.
“We looked better with our serving and blocking, but we just have to finish,” New Brockton coach Lacy Ward said. “You have to play every game like it’s your last.”
Leading the way for the Lady Gamecocks was Judith Lee with nine kills, five digs, a block and an ace. Randi Phillips had a kill, an ace and two digs. Keltzie Harrison contributed four kills and three blocks.
Anna Jones totaled one kill and one block and Mary Smith had eight kills, nine aces, eight digs and a block. Roselynn Wilks picked up six kills, five aces, nine digs and two blocks. Finally, Brianna Harris totaled 12 digs and two aces.
The Lady Gamecocks followed up that match with a win over Geneva County 3-0 on Monday, winning all three sets 25-19, 25-19 and 25-14. New Brockton will host Cottonwood on Thursday.
