Enterprise High School Principal Matt Rodgers stood in front of hundreds of EHS students, parents and faculty Wednesday and lauded the athletic department.

Seven EHS athletes signed scholarships to play collegiate sports at various colleges throughout the country.

Willie Curry, Jalen Hooks and Rashad Hayes each signed to play football in college. Jostlyn Higgerson and Shelby Pawlik signed to play softball. Tahmya Newsome signed to play volleyball and Brittanie Hensley signed to play soccer.

Rodgers and Enterprise High School officials hosted a signing ceremony to celebrate the student-athletes' accomplishments.

"We're blessed at Enterprise High School to have an excellent athletic department," Rodgers said. "We're pleased today to announce we have seven student-athletes who will be signing scholarships."

Curry will play football at the Air Force Academy. The running back rushed for 2,902 yards and 36 touchdowns in his career on 387 carries. He added 33 receptions for 334 yards and two more scores.

Hooks signed to play football with Stillman College in Tuscaloosa. Hooks rushed for 1,154 yards and 17 touchdowns on 225 carries in his career at Enterprise. He also caught 29 passes for 299 yards and two more touchdowns.

Hayes will play football at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. He finished his career with 112 tackles, three tackles for loss and two interceptions. Hayes had 215 career total production points at Enterprise.

Higgerson will play softball at Darton College. Since moving up to the varsity as a freshman, Higgerson has dominated opponents. She finished her career with allowing just 41 earned runs in 389 innings pitched, for a miniscule earned-run average of 0.70. She's struck out 403, compared to walking just 35.

Pawlik signed to play softball at Enterprise State Community College. Used primarily as a pitcher at Enterprise - she also played first base - Pawlik has a 3.32 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 13 walks in 69.2 innings pitched.

Newsome will play volleyball at Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette. As a three-year starter for the Lady Cats, Newsome amassed 514 career kills and 121 blocks while helping the Enterprise volleyball team to the best three-year stretch in program history.

Hensley signed to play soccer at West Florida. Hensley has been a member of the EHS soccer program since her eighth-grade year. Playing every position but goalie, Henslie recorded 41 career goals and 13 career assists.

Rodgers estimated the total amount of the seven scholarships at more than $650,000. He added almost 600 people watched the event livestreamed on the school's website, http://cache.ihigh.com/enterprise/.
