To no one’s surprise, Democrat elites are shamelessly showcasing their “Rules for thee, but not for me” motto yet again by breaking their own mask mandates.

Despite Washington, D.C. suffering more homicides than COVID deaths during the last two weeks in July, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that everyone – regardless of vaccination status – is required to wear a mask indoors.

Did she obey this rule herself? Of course not.

In fact, Bowser delayed her order’s start date several days until the morning after her maskless, star-studded birthday bash. But once the mandate began the following day, she was photographed maskless at a crowded wedding reception – blatantly ignoring her order.

It’s no wonder why the American people are fed up with this nonsense. The Left’s egregious double standard suggests they are more interested in utilizing power than following the science.

While House Democrats’ partisan spending package was completely overshadowed by progressive theatrics and draconian mask mandates, I refuse to ignore their radical spending spree. The pricey package totals nearly $600 billion in discretionary spending – a whopping 21 percent increase from the previous year.

So how do they plan to spend your taxpayer dollars?

For starters, they drastically increased the budgets of non-defense agencies by up to 30-40 percent over their current levels. Additionally, the legislation provides the White House and vice president’s office with sizable budget expansions, which can be used to hire more unelected, partisan bureaucrats. Interestingly, in the midst of a crisis at our southern border, they pushed back vital funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

Worst of all, Democrats eliminated the life-saving Hyde Amendment – forcing you and your family to pay for abortions. By removing the longstanding pro-life language from the spending bill, Democrats have proved they don’t respect the sanctity of human life. Have they no remorse?

I strongly oppose this fiscally irresponsible spending that prioritizes Democrats’ liberal agenda over the real needs of the American people.

In 2020, roughly 40,000 veterans were approved for clothing allowance benefits, which can be used to replace clothing that is routinely damaged by prosthetics, orthopedic devices, or skin medicines necessary as a result of active-duty injuries.

Unfortunately, many veterans have expressed frustration that reapplying for this key benefit each year is burdensome. Our nation’s heroes shouldn’t have to face repetitive red tape to receive the assistance they deserve.

That’s why I joined Congressman Mike Levin to introduce bipartisan legislation that streamlines the process for our veterans to collect a clothing allowance. I’m honored to provide a commonsense solution that ensures our veterans have easier access to this beneficial program, and I look forward to continuing to fight for our veterans during my time in Congress.

We’re hosting our first The Moore You Know Veterans Workshop and Jobs Fair later this month.
