Samuel Shon Joiner, 19, of Goose Creek, S.C., passed away Jan. 11, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at the funeral home.

Samuel was a 2019 graduate of Enterprise High School.

He enlisted with the United States Navy at age 17. He completed boot camp at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center. After boot camp he reported to Joint Base Charleston, S.C., where he completed studies at the Navy Nuclear Power Training Center and at the time of his death was studying at the Nuclear Power Training Unit. He received several awards and recognitions during his military career, including section leader, sharpshooter and the Hard Charger Award for his nuclear studies. At the time of his death he had achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He leaves behind many friends he touched with his love and kindness, including his best friend, Jacob Langley and his shipmates, Kade, Ryan, Jonathan and Noah, who were his closest friends in the Navy.

Samuel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Klemm.

Survivors include his father, Chris Joiner; his mother, Judy Joiner; a sister, Sadie Joiner; two brothers, Benjamin Joiner, all of Enteprise and Brandon Joiner of Donalsonville, Ga; maternal grandmother, Judy Klemm; and paternal grandparents, Ronald and Joan Joiner.
