Kenneth Emile Ryals, 91, of Houston, Texas died Feb. 10, 2021.

Mr. Ryals was born July 21, 1929 in Vredenburg, to Robert and Ruby Ryals. Mr. Ryals served his country in the United States Army for 22 years. He retired as an E-9 Sergeant Major. He served most of his career at Fort Campbell, Ken., in the 101st Airbourne Division. He was also a Rakkasan. Sgt. Maj. Ryals served in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star with a “V” for Heroic achievement. He also served in Japan just after WWII which is where Rakkasan received their name from the Japanese which means parachute. Sergeant Major was very proud to have served his country in the military.

Mr. Ryals was preceded in death by his wife, Eva J. Ryals of Houston; two sons Kenneth D. Ryals and Robert Martin Ryals; and daughter, Donna Diane Ryals, all of Enterprise.

Survivors include one sister, Gloria Vonada and husband Troy, of Pensacola, Fla.; son, Joseph E. Ryals and wife Theresa of Flomaton; daughter, Sarah A. Armstrong and husband Danny of Enterprise; daughter, Emilee J. Robinson of Houston; daughter-in-law, Frances Ryals; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
