Elba police discovered the body of Shaquetha Sharaey Tyson, 28, Sunday, Jan. 24, after going to the 200 block of Adkinson Avenue on a requested welfare check, according to a news release from the Elba Police Department

Officers were unable to contact Tyson and contacted the owner of the property to obtain entry to the property where Tyson was found dead with “obvious signs of foul play,” according to the news release.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency, said Elba police.

The Elba Police Department thanks the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, the Opp Police Department, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Twelfth Judicial Circuit District Attorneys Office, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the Coffee County Coroners Office.
