Dangerous, near record heat is possible across most of the area with the hottest temperatures expected on Thursday. Highs will be in the middle to upper 90s Thursday, though an isolated spot hitting 100 cannot be ruled out.
High pressure will build over the area through the week with temperatures gradually increasing each day through Thursday. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the lower to middle 90s, increasing to the middle to upper 90s on Thursday. Humidity will be low, and heat index values will be in the upper 90s to near 100. As a reminder, Heat Advisory thresholds are heat index values of 108 or greater and/or temperatures of 103 or higher.
There is a possibility the heat may linger into Friday over parts of the area, but there is much uncertainty still as a cold front moves through. While our current forecast highs are generally in the upper 80s to lower 90s for Friday, Friday's temperatures could be hotter than currently forecast if the front is slower.
