Enterprise police officers honored for 'outstanding, meritorious' service

Field Training Officer Christopher Byrd and Police Officer Malcolm Hutchinson were each given a Police Chief’s Award for extraordinary service during the Enterprise City Council meeting Feb. 16. “They were nominated by a police investigator who said these two men needed to be recognized for a job well done,” said Enterprise Interim Police Chief Michael Moore about their response to a Sept. 26, 2020 shots-fired call. When one of the two gunshot victims in a vehicle at the scene was deemed too wounded to be removed from the vehicle, Hutchinson cared for the patient while Byrd drove the victim’s “dilapidated and bullet ridden vehicle” to the hospital for medical attention. The men “exemplified outstanding and meritorious service putting the needs of another ahead of their own safety,” Moore said.
