The Enterprise Lady Cats (8-6, 0-1) dropped their first area game of the season to the Prattville Lady Lions on March 12 by a score of 15-7.
After Enterprise went into the fifth inning holding a strong 6-1 lead, the Lady Lions roared back scoring 14 runs in the final three innings along with holding EHS to just one run for the remainder of the game.
Mattie Bowden had a big day at the plate for Enterprise going 3-for-4, while Georgia Lessman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Alabama State signee Elizabeth Williams also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Emma Faulk went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, as well. Danielle Holley and Brittany Womack had one hit each.
Jordyn Thornton and Holley scored one run each, while Womack scored two runs.
Emily Holland pitched five and 2/3 innings and gave up six hits with seven runs. Only three of those runs were earned runs, however. Bowden took the loss in the circle giving up six hits with eight runs – five of those earned runs – with two strikeouts in one and 1/3 innings in the circle.
The Lady Cats closed out the week with an appearance in the Terry Collins Memorial Softball Tournament in Dothan on March 13-14.
Enterprise started off the tournament appearance with a 3-0 loss to Dothan as the Lady Cats struggled to get on base. Lessman earned the only hit of the afternoon for Enterprise.
Amber Nall pitched all five innings and earned four strikeouts along with giving up seven hits and three runs. Of her 95 pitches, 58 were strikes.
Enterprise bounced back to pick up a 12-6 win over Ashford in the next round after a hot start.
The Lady Cats earned seven runs in the first inning and five more in the third inning to pick up the dominant win.
Bowden led Enterprise at the plate going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, while Kyleigh Coin went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run.
Womack, Williams, Lessman, Holley and Taylor Danford each had one hit. Julianna McCollough scored three runs, while Womack, Katie Snell, Lessman, Holley and Danford scored one run each.
Emily Holland pitched all three innings and struck out one batter, while giving up six hits and six runs.
Enterprise and Ashford met again on March 14 with Ashford getting a measure of revenge against the Lady Cats picking up a 14-0 win.
Enterprise only managed three hits as a team in the second showdown with Ashford as Danford, Bowden and McCollough each recorded one hit. Coin was walked once and both Holley and Williams were hit by pitches.
Bowden pitched one and 2/3 innings with one strikeout along with giving up five hits and seven runs. Nall pitched two and 1/3 innings in the circle and struck out one batter, while giving up four hits and seven runs. Of the seven runs, four were earned.
