As a number of games all across the nation this weekend have been postponed or cancelled, it was announced Nov. 13 that Troy’s game with No. 15-ranked Coastal Carolina scheduled for Nov. 14 has also been postponed.
According to statement from Troy University, the game has been postponed due to a combination of COVID-19 positive tests and injuries in a specific position group with the Troy football program.
“While postponing a game is never an easy decision to make, it was the correct one in this instance as the health and well-being of our student-athletes and staff are of the utmost importance,” Troy Athletics Director Brent Jones said. “I would like to recognize and thank the Sun Belt Conference staff and officials from Coastal Carolina for their collaborative approach and effort to come to this very difficult decision.
“I would be remiss if I did not thank our amazing staff of medical professionals and athletic trainers for their expertise in guiding us through these unprecedented times.”
According to the statement, the Sun Belt is working with Troy and Coastal Carolina in an attempt to reschedule the game for later in the season. Troy’s next scheduled opponent is a home game against Middle Tennessee on Nov. 21.
