Both the Enterprise Wildcats and Lady Cats soccer teams dominated Smiths Station in the opening round of the Class 7A State Playoffs with the boys picking up a 6-0 win and the girls earning a 4-1 win at home on April 30.

The Lady Cats (14-2-1) started off the day against Smiths Station and were able to get on the scoreboard with 19:55 left in the first half when Sydney Garth scored off an Amber Patch assist. The Lady Cats took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Enterprise added to the lead with 34:19 left in the game as Corinna Jones scored off a Garth assist. Garth then scored with 9:35 left and capped off her big night with a third goal with 7:45 left off a Morgan Harrelson assist to give the Lady Cats the 4-1 win.

Sebastian Guerrero got the Wildcats (11-4-2) started off hot with a goal with 33:00 left in the first half. Hunter Perry earned the assist on that first goal.

Sam Mazariegos followed up with a second Wildcat goal with 17:00 left in the half off a Guerrero assist to give Enterprise a 1-0 lead.

Both teams went scoreless for the remainder of the half and the Wildcats took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

A fired up Enterprise team came out blazing in the second half with Guerrero scoring his second goal with 35:00 remaining in the game off a Mazariegos assist. Mazariegos then got in on the action exactly one minute later with a goal of his own off a Perry assist to extend Enterprise’s lead to 4-0.

Rasheed Bolaji scored a goal a few minutes later to give Enterprise a 5-0 lead with 32:00 left and Perry capped off the thrashing with a goal with 24:00 left as the Wildcats cruised to a shutout win.

Smiths Station did not manage a single shot on goal during the game.

Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats will travel to Auburn on May 3 in the quarterfinals of the Class 7A State Playoffs. The boys will play at 7 p.m. and the girls will play at 5 p.m.
