The Troy Lady Trojans celebrate the first regular season championship in program history.

After earning a 91-81 win over Arkansas State on March 7, the Troy Lady Trojans (25-4, 16-2) captured the 2020 Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and a No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

The regular season title was the first in school history for the Lady Trojans and is the first time Troy will enter the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as a No. 1 seed.

Against Arkansas State, Troy fought its way out of a 10-0 hole to open the game to cut the lead to 25-24 at the end of the opening period.

Troy outscored Arkansas State 18-16 in the second quarter and led 42-41 at halftime.

Troy was outscored 21-19 in the third quarter and trailed 61-60 going into the final period. The Lady Trojans, however, dominated the fourth quarter and outscored Arkansas State 30-19 and secured the 91-81 win.

Jasmine Robinson led Troy with 16 points, two rebounds and three assists as she was one of six Lady Trojans to score in double digits. Alexus Dye and Japonica James added 14 points each, while Kayla Robinson and Amber Rivers had 11 points and Tiyah Johnson scored 10 points.

Dye secured a double-double bringing down 13 rebounds, while Robinson dished seven assists.

The win caps off a 2020 season that saw Troy go 12-1 at home and saw the Lady Trojans enjoy three separate winning streaks of six games or more. Troy’s 25 overall wins thus far is also a school-record for a season.

Troy enters the Sun Belt Tournament this week as the No. 1 seed and a chance to win the third Sun Belt Tournament Championship under head coach Chanda Rigby.

As the No. 1 seed, Troy will enjoy a bye in both the first round and quarterfinals. The Lady Trojans will play in the semifinals on Saturday, March 14, from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. live on ESPN+
