The Enterprise High School wrestling team travelled to Troy for a matchup with Charles Henderson on Jan. 7 and then headed to Hoover for a tournament appearance Jan. 8-9.

The Wildcats earned a 72-12 win over Charles Henderson to start off the week with Enterprise winning all but two matches.

Zachary McFarland (120 pounds) and Austin Davis (132 pounds) earned pinfall wins, while Evelyn Holmes-Smith (106 pounds), Kameron Stiffler (113 pounds), Trace Woodward (126 pounds), Nicolas Rodriguz (138 pounds), Samuel Lynon (145 pounds), Will Gottsacker (152 pounds), Ian Gillis (160 pounds), Kaden Franke (170 pounds), Brandon Messmer (182 pounds) and Kai Johnson (220 pounds) all earned forfeit wins.

The Wildcats followed that up with a 3-3 performance at the Scott Rohrer Duals in Hoover Jan. 8-9.

Enterprise kicked things off with a 60-24 loss against Arab. In the dual, Holmes-Smith (106 pounds) and McFarland (113 pounds) picked up pinfall wins, while Cody Kirk (126 pounds) and Messmer (182 pounds) earned forfeit wins.

Enterprise followed up with a 54-32 win over Daphne next. Holmes-Smith (106 pounds), Woodward (120 pounds), Kirk (126 pounds), Davis (132 pounds), Lynon (145 pounds), Gottsacker (152 pounds), Franke (170 pounds) and Dakotah Barber (285 pounds) all captured pinfall wins. McFarland (113) also picked up a forfeit win.

Enterprise stumbled against Smiths Station next falling 55-24 with Holmes-Smith (106 pounds) and McFarland (113 pounds) earning pinfall victories. Franke (170 pounds) also notched a forfeit win.

Enterprise capped off the day with a 54-28 win over Tuscaloosa County as McFarland (113 pounds), Davis (132 pounds), Braden MacGregor (138 pounds), Lynon (145 pounds), Scott Hernandez (160 pounds), Franke (170 pounds), Barber (285 pounds) and Holmes-Smith (106 pounds) all picked up pinfall wins. Messmer (182 pounds) also earned a forfeit win.

The weekend continued on Jan. 9 with Enterprise picking up a 51-27 win over Prattville. Kirk (126 pounds), Gottsacker (152 pounds) and Messmer (182 pounds) won by pinfall, while Gillis (160 pounds) won an 11-9 decision. McFarland (113 pounds), Woodward (120 pounds), Lynon (145 pounds), Barber (285 pounds) and Holmes-Smith (106 pounds) captured forfeit wins.

Enterprise wrapped up tournament competition with a 73-3 loss to Vestavia Hills. Woodward (120 pounds) captured the only Enterprise win of the dual via an 11-4 decision.

Both McFarland and Holmes-Smith went 5-1 during the tournament, with their only losses coming on the mat against Vestavia Hills. Holmes-Smith captured four wins on the mat via pinfall with one forfeit win, while three of McFarland’s wins came on the mat via pifnall and the other two came via forfeit. McFarland’s only loss was a 1-0 decision loss against Vestavia Hills.
