Former Enterprise assistant coach Brett Birdsong works with youth campers at EHS Youth Baseball Camp this week. Birdsong was recently named the new head baseball coach at Carroll.

Enterprise High School assistant baseball and football coach Brett Birdsong was named Carroll High School’s new head baseball coach on Friday, June 15.

This will be Birdsong’s first head coaching position but he heads to Carroll with nine years of coaching experience.

Birdsong was a star baseball and basketball player at Abbeville Christian Academy and then played baseball at Wallace College in Dothan. After graduating college – from both Wallace and Georgia Southwestern – Birdsong served as an assistant baseball, football and softball coach under his father Bubber Bidsong at Baconton Charter School from 2010 until 2016.

In 2016, Birdsong served as an assistant coach at Wallace-Dothan and then was an assistant football, basketball and baseball coach at Rehobeth in 2017. In 2018, Birdsong came to Enterprise to serve as assistant baseball coach under new coach Lee Hyde and also coached the EHS freshman football team’s defensive line.

Birdsong was slated to coach the defensive backs and receivers on the freshman football team and continue his role on the baseball team in 2019.

Birdsong takes over a Carroll program that went 15-13 in 2019 and came in third place in Class 5A, Area 3.
