The New Brockton Gamecocks and Lady Gamecocks returned to the basketball court last week for the first time since December, with away games against Pleasant Home and Zion Chapel.
The Gamecocks (2-12, 1-2) started off the 2020 portion of their schedule on Jan. 10 against Pleasant Home and came up a bit short 65-57 before falling to Zion Chapel on Jan. 13 by a score of 54-38.
Junior Dillon Kelty led the Gamecocks against Pleasant Home with 17 points, while senior Tariq Walker pitched in with 15 points. Sophomore CJ Wilkerson also added nine points in the loss.
Kelty again led the Gamecocks against Zion Chapel with 15 points, while Walker had nine points and senior Dalton Shehee scored seven points.
The Lady Gamecocks (0-10, 0-2) also had a rough go of it with a 69-18 loss to Pleasant Home followed by a 44-9 loss to Zion Chapel.
Against Pleasant Home senior Paula McKenna led the way with nine points, while eighth grader Madison Meeks added five points.
McKenna and Meeks led New Brockton with three points each.
