Both the Enterprise Wildcats and Lady Cats got the 2020 soccer season off to a start with tournament appearances over the weekend as they both competed in the Southern Shootout in Foley.
The Wildcats and Lady Cats both went 2-1 in the tournament.
The Wildcats earned a 2-1 win over Oak Mountain and 3-2 win over Mountain Brook before losing to Spain Park 3-1 to finish in second place in the tournament.
Against Oak Mountain, Sebastian Guerrero and Edgar Munoz each scored a goal, while Sam Mazariegos had an assist.
At goalie, Jonah Sidanycz had six saves, while Hunter Perry had four saves. Guerrero and Mazariegos had three steals each.
Against Mountain Brook, Ryan Parrott, Munoz and Clayton Jenison each scored a goal, while Mazariegos had two assists.
Sidanycz and Perry each had three saves at goalie, while Mazariegos had three steals.
The Lady Cats lost their first game in the tournament to Oak Mountain 2-0 before picking up a dominating 8-0 win over Foley.
Against Oak Mountain, Maggie Bryan had nine saves at goalie, while Madilyn Webb had 12 steals and Jillian Martin had five steals.
Against Foley, Sydney Garth led the way for the Lady Cats with two goals and two assists, while Hope Yerdon also had two goals.
Morgan Harrelson chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Kianna Lezcano had one goal. Webb and Evelyn Holmes also had one goal each, while Arianne Siegel also had an assist.
Bryan had one save at goalie, while Kadence Miller also had one save. Jaden Boland and Martin each had five steals on defense.
Enterprise closed out the tournament with a 1-0 win over No. 4-ranked McGill-Toolen with Garth scoring the only goal of the game for either side. She scored off an assist from Harrelson with 35:28 left in the first half.
Boland led the Lay Cats defensively with five steals, while Mira Barnes had four steals and both Ashlyn Purvis and Webb had three steals each. Bryan had three saves at goalkeeper.
