Enterprise’s Jeremiah Grimes (12) makes a pass for the Wildcats.

Both the Enterprise Wildcats and Lady Cats traveled to Auburn on May 3 for the quarterfinals of the Class 7A State Soccer Playoffs.

The Lady Cats (14-3-1) struggled against Auburn and after getting down early couldn’t claw their way back into it as Auburn earned a 2-1 win over the Lady Cats.

Enterprise was led by Morgan Harrelson with one goal while Sydney Garth had one assist. Ashlyn Purvis had eight steals on defense and goalie Maggie Bryan had 12 saves.

The Wildcats (12-4-2) had a better day, however, as Enterprise shutout Auburn 3-0 to advance to earn a spot in the Final Four later this week.

Sam Mazariegos scored off a Rasheed Bolaji assist with 9:30 left in the first half to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The score remained the same until Mazariegos scored again with 13:33 left in the second half and then Sebastian Guerrero sealed the win with a goal with 1:22 left in the game to give Enterprise a 3-0 win.

The Wildcats will now travel to Huntsville to face off against McGill-Toolen in the Class 7A Semifinals on May 10. The winner of that matchup will play the winner of Florence vs. Hoover on May 11 in the Class 7A State Championship.
